About
World Next Door Music began as a dream, an idea, back in 1971 — well the essence of it was the dream and desire of wanting to record my own album. In 1981, World Next Door was coined and a song came out of it for TV Productions class in high school — it would have been perfect for TRON at the time because it was written on the same premise; it was written way before the movie came out.
In 1986, after several hundred tries at sending demo's to publishers and record labels, I decided to record my own album with the title of "World Next Door." (Digital technology was in its early stages and was quite pricey). I began by doing a complete rewrite of all my material, which took nearly three years to do, after which, showing my music to people was not a problem, because I felt more comfortable with my skills and talents — thus giving me the confidence to play it for people.
Now during all of this rewriting time, I was looking for Analog-Recording Devices, but found out that Digital was near the same price. Tamara and I were also in the middle of buying a house and then getting it up to our standards of living.
Once the music room was finished and after I bought some nice equipment, I was able to get started on my dream. In December of 2000, I was infected with a simple little cold that lead to a major sinus infection that lasted until February of 2001. Getting better with that, I had some trouble with employment. I decided to forget employment for now and get an education, since employers up here want to pay only $7 an hour to start, and I have not been happy doing the crud I have been doing for 10 years — shipping, receiving, and retail.
I then wrote a Novel called World Next Door based on a different premise from the song and then rewrote the song to match the novel (a few minor words to get away from the TRON idea, since many thought I copied it.) — it also became my calling card. I then wrote a screenplay on the novel and rewrote the novel.
I began working on a Masters Degree in Computer Science at CSU Chico, but was not happy with their program. I then attempted to do Visual Effects for film, but the school was a joke and I am not a artist, which is what is required now, plus the market dropped and was infested with too many people. I was back to square one — what do I want to do with the rest of my life?
The answer came when I looked at what I enjoyed doing when I was younger — what was one of my day dream jobs. Working in Film and Music. I finished a 14 month program in 9 months at a post-production school for film and tv in Burbank, California.
I am still active in musical composition and will always be; however, it is now part of Aria Pictures, our movie production company.
World Next door is a Rock Song, Symphonic composition, Novel, Screenplay, and now a Music Production Company with ASCAP — the album title (cd) is still in my mind but it is now saved for the Movie.
